No expensive degrees required to sustain a family happily!
Let me talk to you about living a life of independence & celebration through farming.
Farming can make India self-dependent in many areas as well as rich as we can be best at doing this and we have enough resources available for the same. We can not only feed our own population with highly nutritious natural produces but also can export agri-produces to the world.
What we should be aware of is that our indigenous seeds can work wonders and with very less water we can grow more crops is a truth!
The need is to be aware of various techniques developed in the past decades and implement them rather than blindly importing or using GMO seeds, hybrid seeds and chemical based fertilizers, which are deadly for everyone’s health, says Shri Deepak Suchde, CEO of Malpani Trust, founded by Trustee Dr. Malpani, Bajwada, Madhya Pradesh.
He further adds, that the basic needs of men are Roti, Kapda aur Makan (Food, cloth & shelter) and on top of it, he requires medical services, education and entertainment; these are needs to live a happy life and we should make sure everyone is getting it to keep the crime level low in our country and grow the GDH (Gross Domestic Happiness). He says lack of nutrition in our food and exposure to pollution and chemicals in our environment including food we eat is the root cause of disease. His produces like gourd has obtained high amount of B12 and protein, normally not found in the yields available in market!
He said; “Wants” are tricky and one may never see a satisfied mind while carrying never ending wants!
There is a farming technique in India based on science copied from nature to grow sufficient food for 5 members of a family in just 10,000 square feet land area includes variety of crops, bio-diesel, jaggery, cotton for clothes and additional produced to be sold. A poorest family can be self-dependent round the year using such farming techniques.
Shri Suchde calls it Amrit Krishi or Natueco farming science, which goes on to explore a realm beyond organic farming. The discovery of this technique was copied by studying nature for years by Late Shri S.A. Dabholkar ji.
Farming on Terrace:
Not only this, but using this method of soil-making with the help of naturally available ingredients in the surroundings such as dry leaves, barks, cow-dung, cow urine, jaggery/banana, peel-offs of vegetables & fruits, waste food etc. there are more than 150 varieties of plants grown on the terrace of Mumbai Trust Port in Mumbai consisting of 3000 sq. ft. area including 150 varieties of fruits, vegetables and trees like mango, coconut, pomegranate, papaya, guava, cherry, sesame, coconut, cashew, betel nut, etc.
Amrit Krishi/Natueco farming science can be also applied using half-cut barrels or also can be developed in vertical platforms where land area is less available.
In addition to this; with latest equipments, energy efficient machines, solar equipments and water preservation techniques and ideas like “open source technology” (without patterns) we can really grow big as a farming nation while maintaining our ecology at its best.
Amrit Krishi/Natueco farming science also takes in account the biodiversity needs of our environment and produces and has won the best soil award amongst 700 participants from all over the world.
If the Government of Gujarat or the Government of India offers minimum 2 acres of land with a special subsidy scheme to any of its citizens willing to live eco-friendly life practicing natural farming then we can build higher employment ratio and many educated people from cities will also be willing to live on such self-owned farms giving them self-employment.
Barren, waste or idle lying lands of many universities, colleges, trusts and other such public properties can be utilized to give employment to poor people living a life of dignity.
